Most people get promoted to leadership because they're great at what they do.

. . . not because they're great at managing the people who do it.

An accounting degree doesn’t teach one how to mediate conflicts between team members.

An engineering background doesn’t offer the skills to increase employee engagement or give a tough performance review.

And in situations where managers are called on to lean into those not-yet-developed soft skills, well, things become harder than they need to be.

  • Getting pulled in 17 different directions.
  • Conversations never going how they’re intended to.
  • Working three times as much as everyone else, unsure of where to focus, and not knowing how or what to delegate and prioritize.

As a result, things fall through the cracks.

Meanwhile, managers put more pressure on themselves than ever before—and don’t have a clear picture of what success in this new world of management looks like.

They doubt their instincts and natural gifts, thinking they "just" need to change, they but don’t know what to change or how.

That’s when they start believing they’re not cut out for the gig.

That they weren’t "born for this"— and their confidence starts to dwindle.

Cue frustration.

Cue burnout.

And cue kicking the week off with no-so-excited Mondays and wrapping it up with fully-deflated Fridays. Swap some other adjectives in the place of "deflated", if you like.

Taking the time to understand the nuances of management can seem like another "to do" to add to the list.

But here’s why dialling in these subtle skills is critical:

  • 2 million Americans quit their jobs every month (yep, even in this economy)
  • The top 4 reasons why people quit their jobs are all about poor management and relationships
  • 85% of employees are either “meh” or downright “blarg” about their jobs
  • Employee disengagement costs companies an estimated $450 - $500 billion per year in lost productivity

Bit of a bleak outlook, right?

But here’s the good news:

A manager’s soft skills are the antidote to all those struggles and challenges; they’re the key to a team's wellbeing and a company's profits.

And they can be taught.

The bad news: nobody teaches them.

Until now.

Remember your own journey as a manager, and experience in growing as a leader?

Not always a cake walk, right?

SO many executives well into their careers walked similar paths:

  • Fighting through trial and error, muscling through challenging conversations . . .
  • Probably wanting to ask for help but not knowing how . . . or where to start.

This is the course you wanted in your early days as a leader.

And it’s a chance to give the people you lead today what you wanted when you were starting your own journey.

The tools, tips, tricks and resources . . .

And more importantly, the empowerment, confidence, clarity and understanding of their job, and themselves as a leader.

Whether a startup, a growing company, or a multinational corporation, communication and management fundamentals are the same.

Maybe a handful of new managers has just been promoted, or there’s the opportunity to add more tools to some tenured management toolkits and elevate the people you lead.

At its core, Awesome Manager is for individuals smart enough to know there’s a way to lead that feels good; that gives everyone a chance to do their jobs better, focus on what matters while growing relationships and feeling fulfilled in the process.

They simply know they haven’t tapped into it yet.

Because people want more than promotions: they want to be good at their jobs.

They want to be awesome managers—and lead awesome teams.

So if the managers you’re supporting are . . .

  • Curious about learning how to find success through their people succeeding
  • Committed to being a boss their team members remember
  • Interested in experiencing less "ugh" and more ease
  • And want to find the fun in their leadership learning curve

. . . then we’ve got some exciting work to do together.

Known to cause (awesome) breakthroughs in management and leadership.

That’s a bold statement, indeed. And, it’s true (and backed by 20 years of coaching).
